The eco institute checks and evaluates products such as mattresses, bedding, furniture and floors and grants them the right to bear the eco institute label.

The eco institute is also certified as an expert, accredited test organisation for other test organisations and label providers.

The CE symbol represents external confirmation that a product complies with the European Community requirements that are made of the manufacturer. It may only be applied if a directive applies to the product that stipulates CE marking. If a product is marked with the CE symbol, the responsible party (manufacturer, importer) is declaring that:
• the product complies with all of the applicable community regulations, and
• all of the prescribed conformity evaluation procedures (e.g. danger analysis, risk assessment, checking of compliance with standards) have been carried out.
